Firefighter Stricken At Station

Firefighter Gerald Wayne Fields, a 32-year
veteran with the Dallas Fire Department, died
while on duty March 10
Fields, 53, suffered a heart attack at the
fire station where medics were unable to
revive him.
Services were held at 2 p.m. March 14 at
Rolling Hills Church of Christ, in DeSoto. The
burial was at Red Oak Cemetery.
Dallas FD PIO Annette Ponce said Fields was
a native of Dallas. He was very active in his
community in the Cold Springs Church of
Christ, the DeSoto Lions Club, the DeSoto PTA,
Boy Scouts of America Troop 141, the Dallas
Fire Fighters Association, the Black
Firefighters Association.
Fields is survived by his wife, Hazel Ann,
daughters Monica Bussell and Hillery, a premed
student at the University of Texas in Austin,
and 16-year-old son Michael.
Ponce said memorials have been directed
toward the Dallas area Boy Scouts of America
and the DeSoto Lions Club. |
