The Organizational
Development and Planning Division is responsible for long and short
range strategic planning which identifies areas of quality
management to enhance productivity through improved work procedures,
practices, communication, and accountability. This division also
monitors service delivery elements through procedures and strategies
to accomplish timely and effective utilization of available
services. Organizational Development constantly scans the Department
to make recommendations with the distribution of resources, projects
and programs. Performance management of the Department and the
performance measurement of bureaus and individuals fall under this
division as well.
Departmental
accreditation through the Center of Public Excellence is a major
focus. This 3-year effort will reaffirm our commitment to excel in
all areas of the fire service from standards of coverage, service
delivery, and future preparedness.
A part of this
division is the Public Information Officers, which keeps the media
informed of the Department’s public education efforts, special
programs, and special public interest issues such as large scale
fires and medical emergencies. These personnel also help produce the
Department’s newsletters and news releases, as well as exclusive
articles for public awareness projects and campaigns. Marketing and
public relations, along with various community affairs projects and
initiatives are also an integral part of an overall focus on
internal and external communications.
The
Adopt-A-Station Program is a successful private-public partnership
which seeks to increase the living standards for our Firefighters/
Paramedics.
