The fire is believed to have started in a ground-floor unit, and quickly spread upstairs and into a common attic area.  Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the end of the building in which it had begun, and only 12 units in this large building suffered varying degrees of damage:  Three units suffered heavy fire damage, and an additional nine units suffered varying degrees of damage from smoke and water.  Property management officials are working with volunteers from the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team to assist residents in relocation efforts.
