Dallas Fire-Rescue to Conduct
Neighborhood Fire Safety Survey
Date: January 29, 2002
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Location: Fire Station #14, 1005 W. 12th
Street @ N. Polk Street (mapsco 54F)
Details: As the month of January comes to a close, the City of Dallas has experienced three civilian fire fatalities. The third fire death this year occurred over
the weekend at 823
Centre Street in Oak
Cliff, claiming the life of a 59-year-old male.
In light of this recent tragedy, Dallas Firefighters and Fire Prevention
Officers will go door to door in the immediate area to speak with residents
about fire safety. Fire-Rescue personnel
will also offer free smoke detectors to those in need of this protection. Although Dallas Fire-Rescue works throughout
the year to promote fire safety and install smoke detectors, a tragedy like
this results in increased awareness. As
a reminder, any resident in the City of Dallas needing a smoke detector for their home can simply dial 3-1-1 and make that request. Dallas
Fire-Rescue will install smoke detectors free of charge.
