House Fire Claims Life, Injures Another

Cause: Under Investigation

Injuries: One fatality - approximately 68-year-old female pronounced dead on the scene.
One injury - a 72-year-old male was transported to Parkland Hospital suffering from 1st and 2nd degree burns and smoke inhalation. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Damages: $17,000-Structure
                     $20,000-Contents

Details: Shortly before midnight firefighters were called to the 8300 block of Lake Anna Drive in southeast Dallas. When they arrived, they found a one-story home on fire and received reports of someone still inside. An aggressive search of the home resulted in the location of an elderly woman in the front part of the house. She was pronounced dead on the scene. A 72-year-old male who was able to escape from the house prior to the arrival of firefighters was transported to Parkland Hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. It is unknown at this time if there was a working smoke detector in the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
