Location:
Dallas Fire Station #6
2808
S. Harwood St. (mapsco 46S)
Details:
On Saturday morning, personnel from the Dallas Fire Department will join
efforts with representatives of the American Red Cross and the Injury
Prevention Center of Greater Dallas to install free smoke detectors for
residents in the South Dallas area.
The target area is south of Metropolitan, west of Oakland Ave, north of
Eugene and east of S.M. Wright freeway. Personnel will be going door to
door providing smoke detectors to any residents who need them.
As personnel participating in this event organize at Fire Station 6, City
of Dallas Fire Marshall, Assistant Chief Debra Carlin, will address the
media with a message about the importance of having a working smoke detector
in your home. With the tragic fire deaths earlier this week in Dallas,
the Dallas Fire Department would like to reemphasize our message about
smoke detectors. Although the three fire deaths recently were unrelated,
a common thread among them was not having a working smoke detector in
the residence.
The Dallas Fire Department would appreciate the media's help in getting
this important message to the public, especially in light of the recent
tragedies. City of Dallas residents can simply call 3-1-1 to request a
free smoke detector or stop by their neighborhood fire station where firefighters
will be able to assist them
