Cause: Under Investigation

Injuries: 2 - One firefighter suffered from burns and was treated at Parkland Hospital and released. One female civilian was                 transported to Baylor Hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation.

Damages: $30,000 Structure, $11,000 Contents

Details: At least six families are displaced at the Ashton Place Apartments after an early morning fire. When firefighters arrived, fire was already visible from the outside. Two units sustained heavy fire damage and four others have varying degrees of smoke and/or water damage. Red Cross personnel responded to assist the displaced residents. Investigators believe that the fire started in a vacant apartment downstairs and quickly spread to the apartment above. All of the residents managed to escape from the building with only one suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to Baylor Hospital in stable condition. One firefighter was taken to Parkland Hospital for some burns. He was treated and released. At this time there is no specific cause as to how the fire started. The fire is still under investigation.
