Three Oak Cliff Businesses Damaged

In 4-Alarm Fire

 

 

Date of Incident:                    Thursday, March 28, 2002 

 

Location:    100 block of E. Jefferson Boulevard      

 

Response:    18 pieces of heavy fire equipment, 74 firefighters

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Times:     1st alarm – 2:50 a.m., 2nd alarm – 2:58 a.m., 3rd alarm – 3:04 a.m.,

                 4th alarm – 3:12 a.m., fire under control at 3:51 a.m.                        

 

Cause:   Under investigation

           

Injuries:   None

 

Damages:   $80,000 total:  $60,000 to structure, and $20,000 to contents

                                               

Details:    First-arriving firefighters noticed heavy smoke coming from the roof of this corner building, which houses three businesses.  A fire wall between the business fronting on South Beckley, and those on East Jefferson, was effective in slowing the progress of the fire and minimizing damage.  The businesses impacted were:

 

            Carmina’s Salon:  212 So. Beckley

            Bishop Pawn & Music:  101 E. Jefferson

            American Thrift Shore:  107 E. Jefferson.

 

Fire investigators will be at the scene today to examine physical evidence, and work toward determining a cause.
