1st alarm 4:59 a.m., Under Control @ 5:32 a.m. Cause: Under Investigation Injuries: One fatality - An unidentified black male Damages: $31,000 Structure Details: Firefighters arriving at the 1 ½ story frame house found quite a bit of fire showing and were receiving reports from bystanders that someone was still inside. An aggressive interior search along with a fire attack was made but not before the fire claimed the life of an unidentified black male. The victim was found in the upstairs portion of the house with the main body of fire being on the ground floor. It appears that the victim and the bystanders that met arriving firefighters were homeless people seeking shelter in the vacant and boarded up house. Several people were thought to be inside the house when the fire started. No other injuries were reported and others staying in the house were able to make it out safely. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
