Six-Alarm Fire

Cause:      Undetermined - under investigation

Details:The fire is believed to have begun in a unit that was being remodeled, and spread through the roof to occupied units. Seventy-four units have been impacted in this event, displacing an estimated 120 persons. Most of the units have suffered damage from fire, or from smoke and water. Others cannot be occupied due to loss of utilities. American Red Cross disaster volunteers are managing an emergency shelter established at Grauwyler Recreation Center, 7500 Harry Hines Boulevard. It was reported that three families - eight persons - spent last night at the shelter.
