Dallas Fire Officials to Monitor 4th of July Fireworks Activities

Dallas Fire-Rescue will lead efforts to monitor fireworks related activities this 4th of July.  Fire Prevention Officers will monitor parks for illegal fireworks use at Lake Ray Hubbard, Mountain Creek Lake, Crow Lake Park and areas along the Trinity River Corridor.  The Park Department will be closing Lake Ray Hubbard Park and Mountain Creek Lake Park at 9:00 p.m. on July 4th.  Guests at all parks will be required to leave at that time.  Early closure of the parks has been a significant factor in the decline of the use of illegal fireworks at these locations.

Teams of Fire Prevention Officers and Dallas Police Officers will be stationed at these locations to prevent the use of fireworks.  Lake Ray Hubbard and Mountain Creek Lake Parks will be patrolled from 3:00 p.m. until after the closing at 9:00 p.m., when the majority of the patrons should be gone.  Crow Lake Park and the Trinity River Corridor will be patrolled from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 midnight.  Handouts in English and Spanish will be provided to any person needing fireworks information.

Dallas Police ICP Officers will assist Fire Prevention Officers in patrolling neighborhoods for illegal fireworks use and responding to complaints received through fire and police dispatch centers.  Twelve teams will be assigned throughout the city from 7:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., responding to calls as they are received.
