Natural gas explosion critically injures elderly female.

1st alarm – 09:46 a.m.  The fire was tapped out at 10:45 a.m.

Cause:
 
Accidental discharge of natural gas.
Injuries:

 

One – an 80 year-old female was transported to Parkland Hospital in critical                   condition with 2nd and 3rd degree burns to her extremities.

Damage:
 

$55,000 to structure and contents.

The first arriving emergency apparatus arrived within two minutes and reported a one-story frame house engulfed in flames.  Neighbors reported hearing one loud explosion shortly before the house was discovered to be on fire.  The victim, who owned the residence, was the only person inside the structure at the time of the fire.  Adjacent properties were not damaged.  The ignition source that actually caused the explosion is not known at this time.
