Magnesium, among other metals, caused an intense fire, forcing firefighters to reevaluate their firefighting strategy.  Upon noticing the strange color of the fire, first-arriving crews immediately called for the haz-mat team.  The blaze at Gold Metal Recyclers posed a challenge to Dallas firefighters due to the high temperatures outside and the intensity of the fire, which began to spread quickly.  An adjacent building was destroyed after it caught on fire.  It is not known what caused the power line to fall.
