Cause: Under Investigation

Injuries: The pilot, a 36-year-old white male was transported to Parkland Hospital

Details: A twin engine, Beechcraft King Air crashed in a residential area north of Love Field early Tuesday afternoon.  The pilot was the only passenger on the plane, which was on final approach to Love Field from the north.  As the plane started to go down in the neighborhood area, it contacted electrical wires and then hit the corner of a house.  After damaging the house, which lost part of the roof on the back left, the plane struck a detached garage behind that same house.  The plane came to rest in the alley behind the damaged home, but not before hitting the electrical wires that bring service into the house, some trees and a gas meter.  There was one resident inside the home at the time of the crash, but she escaped without injury.  Dallas Fire-Rescue crews evacuated 6 homes in the immediate area of the crash, as initial concerns were of fire or explosion due to the charged electrical wires on the ground, a damaged gas meter and leaking fuel from the plane.  There was no fire associated with this crash.  A quick response from utility crews to shut off the power and gas to the area allowed rescuers to assess the pilot still trapped in the wreckage.  The pilot, who was the only occupant on the plane, was transported to Parkland Hospital where he is under going surgery Tuesday evening for a fractured leg.  FAA and NTSB officials were on the scene conducting their investigation into the events that led to the crash.  The plane was removed from the scene by a private contractor and will be secured as the investigation continues.  No other injuries were reported during this incident.
