Dallas Fire Chief to Thank Citizens

Dallas Fire Chief Steve Abraira would like to thank the citizens of Dallas for their generous donations made to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund. In an effort to raise money for the families of New York firefighters killed in the September 11^th tragedy, Dallas firefighters solicited the help of the community by collecting donations on the streets and using the fire stations as drop-off points for those wishing to donate. In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, Dallas Fire-Rescue is pleased to announce that over $617,000 was raised with the help of the citizens of Dallas. The money was recently added to the fund on behalf of the City of Dallas and Dallas Fire-Rescue. Chief Abraira will make a formal announcement of the total and personally thank the citizens who gave so generously in this effort. A check presentation will be made Wednesday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Fire Station #15. Station 15 is located at

111 E. 8^th Street in North Oak Cliff (mapsco # 54D). Dallas Fire-Rescue is requesting the assistance of the media in thanking all of those who participated.
