INCIDENT DESCRIPTION

5-alarm Fire Displaces 11 families

Approximately 55-60 people consisting of man, women and children were left without a home after a fire destroyed an apartment building in South Dallas this morning.  The fire originated in an upstairs unit and quickly spread into the attic space, causing heavy damage to the roof.  The building consisted of 12 units, however, only 11 units were occupied at the time of the fire.  American Red Cross workers were expected to arrive on the scene to provide assistance to the displaced families.  There were no reported injuries.  Fire-Rescue crews will remain on the scene throughout the day to check for hot spots and to begin the cleanup process.
