Dallas Fire-Rescue to conduct Fire Safety Community Survey in Southern Dallas

When:       November 30, 2001

Where:      Meet at Station 44, 4114 Frank St. (Mapsco 46R)

Time:        1:00 p.m.

The Dallas Fire-Rescue experienced their first fatality for the beginning of the cold winter season on November 28,2001.  A 77-year-old male, Johnny B. Davis, lost his life due to standing too close to a space heater.  This is an unfortunate and tragic incident.

The Dallas Fire-Rescue Department will conduct a Community Fire Safety Survey in the neighborhood where this fire fatality has occurred.  Fire Prevention Officers and firefighters will go door to door and install smoke detectors in residences that need them.  They will also talk to the residents about fire safety tips for the cold winter months.

We only hope that we do not experience further fatalities due to this cold winter season or for any other reason.  Please help us get the message out about fire safety to the residents of Dallas.
