Oak Lawn Arsonist Arrested

Dallas Fire-Rescue Arson Investigators have made an arrest in the string of arson fires in the Oak Lawn area over the last few months.  Billy Hugh Curtis, Jr., a 31-year-old white male, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon in connection with the arson fires.  Mr. Curtis is a primary suspect in the 61 deliberately set fires that have occurred in the Oak Lawn area since August 3, 2001.  At this time, 2nd degree felony arson charges have been filed on one of the fires and more charges may come as the investigation continues into how many of these fires he may actually be proved responsible for.

Deputy Chief Tom Oney, Arson and Fire Investigation, will address the media and answer questions regarding this case at 2:00 p.m. today.  The press conference will be held at

2014 Main Street, on the 4th floor, in Room 406.  A photo of the suspect will be made available at that time.
