Residential fire takes the lives of three children
A
rapidly spreading fire destroyed a single-story residence in the
Pleasant Grove area of Dallas. The fire began in one of
the rear bedrooms of the residence and quickly spread throughout
the house. A total of six people were transported to the
hospital, including a neighbor who attempted to rescue the
children. A 5-month old, a 3 year-old and a 4-year-old
were later pronounced dead at Baylor Hospital. A 2-year-old and a 48 year-old male were also transported to
Parkland
Hospital.
A space
heater placed too close to bedding material was found to be the
cause of this tragic fire. The home did not have a smoke
detector.
Fire
Prevention Officers will be installing smoke detectors tomorrow
in neighboring residences.
