Team, or work group that has distinguished themselves with courage
and exceptional performance, collectively as a team, at the scene of
an emergency or other incident. |

For their professional demonstration of teamwork
and courage when dispatched to 1600 California Crossing to a possible
drowning on June 15, 2001. With the help of a bystander, the crew
located a victim in the Trinity River, entered the water and worked
together to make a successful rescue.

For their competent actions and demonstration of
professionalism when they responded to a motor vehicle accident on
southbound R. L. Thornton Freeway at Hampton Road on February 6, 2002,
where they had a single occupant pinned, requiring the use of the Jaws
of Life in the quick and successful extrication of the patient from the
vehicle.
Engine
22, A shift
For their demonstration of professional skill and
outstanding teamwork while responding to a fire at an apartment complex
on January 25, 2002, which resulted in the rescue of an infant. Their
prompt action prevented a potentially dangerous situation from resulting
in more serious consequences.

Engine 28,
Engine 29, Truck 57 and Battalion 4, C Shift.
For their competent actions and demonstration of
professionalism when they responded to a report of fire at a
manufacturing facility at Texas Instruments on January 1, 2002. This
incident held great potential for dramatic escalation, but the rapid,
well-coordinated response of department members made a difference and is
to be commended.


Engine
42 and Rescue 11, A shift.
For their commendable actions and efforts when they
responded to a structure fire at 8419 Ridgelea on March 2, 2002, where
they rescued two fire victims. One of the victims succumbed to his
injuries and the other is recovering at the Parkland Burn Unit. All
members involved acted in the finest traditions of the Department.

For their commendable actions and efforts when they
responded to a structure fire at 6054 Parkdate on August 16, 2001, where
they rescued four victims and revived three of them. Even though all
victims succumbed to their injuries, all members involved acted in the
finest traditions of the Department.


Truck
19, A Shift
For their expert use of medical knowledge and
skills when responding to a major accident with a person pinned under a
fully loaded eighteen-wheel trailer. With their coordinated effort, the
car was removed from underneath the trailer and the final extrication of
the patient was performed. The patient was flown to Parkland Hospital
in serious condition and taken to surgery where he later expired. Any
chance of survival was due to the tireless efforts of the firefighters
that were on scene that day.
