Built by Ahrens Manufacturing Campany of Cincinnati, Ohio, it was delivered to the City on Feburary 19, 1894. The Name "Old Tige" was the nickname of the Mayor of Dallas at that time, Mr. W. L. Cabell.retrucks including 'Old Tige,' a 1884 horse-drawn steam pumper named after then mayor W.L. Cabell and a 1936 ladder truck. Children can indulge their fascination with firefighters by climbing on a hook and ladder truck as well as viewing over 100 years of firefighting history thru a collection of extinguishers, helmets, suits, uniforms, etc. Sometimes you can hear present day's Dallas Fire Department's dispatchers.

The museum is staffed Wednesday through Saturday  from 9-4 by retired firefighters who are always happy to show to individuals and groups and to give a lesson in fire saftey to the many groups of children who regularly visit.  A gift shop is located on the premises for souveneirs, t-shirts, etc.  The slide show at the left features a few of the many pictures on display at the museum.

The Dallas Firefighter's Museum is affiliated with the Texas Fire Museum and the North Texas Historical Fire Society. All three of these are non-profit organizations that do not discriminate according to race, creed, color, sex, age or national origin.
